Courage Under Fire

“Only be thou strong and very courageous, that thou mayest observe to do according to all the law, which Moses my servant commanded thee; turn not from it to the right hand or to the left, that thou mayest prosper whithersoever thou goest.
This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do all that is written therein. For then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success.” Joshua 1:7-8 KJV

Courage is not the absence of fear. It is the appropriate action taken in the presence of fear. In these times of economic hardship in the world’s system, it is imperative that we as believers take courage. This courage is not automatic or inherent. We must take it. Our faith will be tested like never before and our flesh nature will want to flee. That’s where the rubber meets the road. Do we really believe what we say we believe?
It takes courage to continue confessing the Word of God over our circumstances in spite of what we see. It takes courage to say I have more than enough when your money is funny and your change is strange. It takes courage to keep tithing, giving your offering, and first fruit when it looks like you’re losing. It takes courage to say by His stripes I, healed when that pain is still there and with that negative doctor’s report. It takes courage to hear yourself speaking the word and to continue doing it even though you know your present situation is jacked up.
The good news is God would never ask us to take courage if we were not equipped to do just that. Because of the blood of Jesus we are more than conquerors. We must settle it with all finality that the Word of God is our final authority! PERIOD! For we already know the outcome. When we depart not from the Word but keep it in our mouths we will make our way prosperous and we will have good success. Otherwise let’s just stack up our hymn books and Bibles and go home.
