The Fifth Season

Winter, Spring, Summer, Fall… As long as the earth remains and rotates on its axis in this solar system, one can expect to experience the changes these seasons bring. There is yet another season that is just as sure. In this economic climate in the earth it is easy and wise to cut cost and watch our spending. However, there is one area in which the faith filled believer cannot afford to cut back. Many of you have been consistent in the area of tithes, offerings, and first fruit. It almost seems as though nothing is happening for you. No increase, lack still showing up, and insufficiency abounds. You ask the Lord where you missed it or even “when” is breathrough coming? Don’t give up just yet!

Galatians 6:9 King James Version (KJV)  And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.

Yes the fifth season is due season and it must come. The number five is the number of grace; the unmerited favor of God. It is significant to note that to be a partaker of God’s grace is not automatic for the believer, it requires man’s involvement. The number four represents mans weaknesses, helplessness, and insufficiency. The number 1 expresses Deity, God’s strength through which we are made perfect in our weakness. Thus Four plus One equals 5…grace. This principle was established through Abraham when God asked him to sacrifice five different types of burnt offerings (Genesis 15). The Lord had promised to bless him and his seed, but needed an avenue through which Abraham could have access to His best. This avenue was…you guessed it….giving! When we give to God, it is not so we can receive things. He doesn’t give things, He gives promises. The promises through faith manifests into things. God gives us the power to get wealth. He does this through revelation. When we disconnect from giving correctly we interrupt the current or flow of revelation from God. In other words we can’t hear from Him(thank God for a Pastor who made this so plain yesterday!). We give so we can hear!
Therefore in adverse economic times, we must do what Abraham had to do. Drive the buzzards off! A modern day buzzard is every satanic reason to stop or cut back our giving. Remember, God cannot lie. Due Season always comes. We ensure the arrival of our due season by sustained obedience in the area of giving. Don’t quit now you’re too close to your due season!
