For My Good

And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose Romans 8:28 KJV

All things means exactly that…all things.. Sometimes even your mistakes or your blunders can work together for good.
For the past several days I have been “burning the candle at both ends.” Getting very little sleep, coupled with getting up early and working an eight hour job, can really take its toll on your body. It will shut down on you. Well, I finally went to sleep last night. There was only one problem; I was driving at the time. The vehicle I was driving traveled across the center line, across the oncoming traffic lane, through a fence, went airborne over a retaining wall landing in a open paved lot. I woke up during this ordeal holding on to the steering wheel until the vehicle came to a stop.

You might ask, “How could this work for my good?” First, I wasn’t hurt, not even shaken up. No bumps, no bruises, not a scratch. There was minimal damage to the vehicle– headlight assembly and one wheel. No undercarriage damage occurred. More importantly, no one else was involved. No other traffic was present. There were so many structures on that route I could have struck, except for the fact that the Lord has given his angels charge over me to keep me in all my ways (Psalms 91), including the dumb ones. I was able to change the tire and drive the vehicle home! I would qualify that as working for my good! Yes, the whole incident could have been avoided had I listened to that inner voice and my body. But even in my failure God showed me his favor because I am one of his favorite sons. I learned a tough lesson with minimal collateral damage.
