“Indeed, the Sovereign Lord never does anything until he reveals his plans to his servants the prophets. Amos 3:7 New Living Translation
The local pastor is the ordained spiritual authority over the congregation. That’s why it is so important to hear from God concerning which fellowship you join. Connecting with the wrong church will lead you into following a vision not ordained by God for your life. Since God knows your final outcome and destiny, he orchestrates your life like an air traffic controller placing you near prearranged paths to take. It’s up to you to follow where he leads. This is a spiritual decision that should not be taken lightly.
Although God does speak to each of us through his Word and through the Holy Spirit, there are certain specific things he only reveals through his prophets or ordained authority. This has been God’s pattern since the beginning. Throughout the Bible we see instances of God revealing something to the man of God who relays the message to the people. It’s then up to the followers to obey or disobey the instuctions given.
When God delivered the children of Israel from Egypt. He gave the instructions to one man, Moses. Their deliverance was in the mouth of their prophet. Nobody questioned the Passover instructions. “Why we gotta eat with our shoes on?” “Why we can’t put leaven in the bread?” “Can we use chicken blood instead?”. This didn’t happen. They submitted to the Word of the Lord from the mouth of the prophet. The result; the death angel charged with killing all the first born pased them by touching only the Egyptian households.
Naaman, the military commander who had leprosy, did question the word from Elisha. But he eventually complied and received his healing.
Your pastor is more than just the person who preaches the Word. It is the hidden secret concerning you that God reveals through him (or her) that unlocks the doorway to your destiny.
