The Enemy

Be sober, be vigilant, because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about seeking whom he may devour. 1 Peter 5:8
Satan’s job, according to St John 10:10, is to steal, kill, and destroy. He will use any means necessary to render you useless for the kingdom of God or to get you out of the planet where you are no threat. One of his tricks is to question anything God has said
concerning you. When Jesus was baptised by John the Baptist, God himself soke these words: “This is my beloved Son in whom I am well pleased.” St Matthew 3:17 KJV. As soon as those words were spoken Jesus was led into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil. The first thing Satan said was “If thou be the Son of God…”. What do you mean if? God himself declared who Jesus was! By the same token, the Word we speak out of our mouth will be tested. We must resist the devil by submitting to what God has said only. Our only response should be… “it is written…”
Father, I realize I sometimes allow the enemy to get “in-a-me”. By your grace, may I recognize his schemes, resisting steadfastly, giving him no access to the peace I have in you. In the name of Jesus, Amen.
