Fear is a spirit that has and still is crippling many a believer. It keeps us from having power, love, and a sound mind. People fear many things: from public speaking, to bugs, to dogs, disease, death, and the list goes on. There is only one source for this debilitating state of mind. One could define fear adequately by saying it is False Evidence Appearing Real. It’s author, Satan himself, the father of lies. As a roaring lion (which he is not) he purposely seeks whom he may devour. He looks for an opening, however small, to insert this infectious venom. He knows “fear hath torment”, and takes every opportunity to pick at you in that area, knowing that it will show up somewhere else and hinder your progress.
For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind. 2 Timothy 1:7 (KJV)
The opportunity for fear will always be present. It is up to you to refuse the package. The Holy Bible is a catalogue of promises and benefits to the believer. Just as a you order merchandise for a retail catalogue, you only accept that which you ordered. If the company sends you the wrong item, you send it back. If they keep sending you stuff you don’t want, you refuse the package.
Fear is not in our catalogue. The package sent to you has a bogus address and there is an oil stain on it. It is torn and you can see wires. Don’t touch it! It will explode and harm you along with anyone in the vicinity.
God wants you whole. Fear will maim you and decrease your effectiveness for the Kingdom of God. After all, that is Satan’s ultimate goal; to render you useless for the kingdom or at least minimize your impact. He knows you love the Lord and are not about to stop going to church. So he finds the next best thing… fear. What are you afraid of?
1John 4:18 gives the remedy for fear. It is perfect love. The love that only a loving Father, our daddy God can bring. He said he would never leave or forsake you, nor will he relax his hold on you. He said he’d be with you “whithersoever you go”.
Let’s make this confession a apart of our daily routine,
The Father has taken up residence inside me, therefore I am bold, strong and courageous. I will not fear. I have complete confidence in my God and I encounter danger and the opportunity for fear with firmness and bravery. I fulfill my calling in a Spirit of valor and determination. With God on my side, I overcome every obstacle that the enemy puts in my path. No fear here. No fear here. For the Lord is with me, everywhere that I go.
