Fight the good fight of the faith. Take hold of the eternal life to which you were called when you made your good confession in the presence of many witnesses. 1Timothy 6:12 (KJV)
Ever so often in school you would hear about a good fight. Either it happened or it was going to happen after school. Maybe you heard or said these words yourself: “Meet me at three!” That only meant one thing. If you said it, you were going to make sure you were there ready to fight. If it was said to you, you had a decision to make. Either you would show up for the fight, or avoid it and be known as “chicken”. People heard the words, so the news spread quickly there was going to be a fight after school.
As believers, there’s something we should know by now. The promises of God are not automatic. You don’t just get blessed because you need a blessing. What you are believing God for will not arbitrarily just show up. You have to fight the good fight of faith. It is a good fight because provision has already been made for you to receive. However, Satan will try everything he can to make sure you don’t get it. So you have to fight for it.
Remember Jairus coming to Jesus because his daughter was dying? Jesus agreed to go home with him and heal his daughter. While on the way they were interrupted by a woman with issues (the Bible says an issue of blood, but that wasn’t her only problem). After she touched Jesus and received her healing, she commencing to telling him her life story while Jairus is only interested in getting Jesus to his house. “Blah, Blah, Blah; is all he heard. “Hurry up Lady, we’ve got to go!” He thought. Then the news came. His little girl was dead. They were too late. Jesus turned around and told Jairus, “Be not afraid, only believe!” Jesus proceded to where the girl was and raised her up.
There are some things worth fighting for.
What about the lame man carried by four of his friends to a meeting Jesus was having so their friend could be healed. They got to the meeting and it was jammed packed; standing room only. Do they turn around and go home? No. They somehow get him up to the roof without dropping him and tear a hole in the roof of the house, lowering him down to Jesus so he could be healed. (I want friends like that!)
There are some things worth fighting for.
What are you believing God for that seems to be dead or paralyzed. Don’t be afraid, only believe and fight the good fight of faith. Put the Word of God on the situation. Say it where Satan and others can hear it. Tell the devil “Meet me at three” I bet he doesn’t show up.
